When I boot my computer I get "EISA Configuration Error--Run Configuration Utility". How do I reset it? Where do I find the utility? When I press F1 to run the setup utility, it wants me to change values.
How do you find the values to reset the BIOS? My E: drive acts kooky since it's not configured right and I don't know all the parameters (like the cylinders, sectors, etc). I've ran MSD, I don't know what I'm doing. I got my computer second hand.
E: drive is my hard drive. I can't put any programs on it because it gets truncated or corrupted. I never had this problem until the EISA configuration messed up.
That's a somewhat of an odd message - do you have Matrox video?
If it does pertain to the HDD configuration, you may be able to select 'autodetect' from the CMOS - this isn't necessarily automatic on a 486. Possibly the hard drive will have its specs on a label, otherwise you could get the drive geometry from a net search and enter the values manually.
