Do you mean a PCMCIA Hardcard for a laptop or desktop?
Does it have any other details on the card? i.e. Maker or Name
Such devices are Plug & Play with Win95 onwards, But you will need at least Card & Socket services with Win3x with perhaps a device driver as well.

If you mean for a PC/PC-XT (8 or 16 bit) interface card like a Plus Card (not IDE) then the ROM on the HD controller control the drive configuration. Set no drives in the BIOS and the drive should be detected.

A hard card is a plug in to the mother board card with a hard drive attached. I think I have two of them, one is in almost daily use (clone PC-XT) about 20 years old, the hard card is the 'newest' component, the monitor is monochrome - 1983).

Sorry, I misread the message, and was thinking about the PCMCIA 'Solid State' Hardcards that are/were available for laptops. <Exit Left>
