Here's another part of my virus dilemna. I can download a Compaq config utility from their very helpful website. However, it is 2.43 mb, more than a floppy will hold. Even Zipped, it is over 2 mb. I need to run it from the a: drive on my mucked-up machine. I thought that if I copied it to the a: drive here at the office, it would copy onto 2 floppies, but it just says INSUFFICIENT DISK SPACE. Does anyone have any idea how to get this critter onto 2 disks? Otherwise, it's not useful to me and I'm in ^$**$(. Thanks d

Hi Doghead: Here's something that might work if you can boot to c:\ & read\launch files on compaq PC. One way is if you have DOS 6.22 on your compaq PC, then I can e-mail you a zip file that has the needed msbackup files, which you can un-zip to a directory on you work PC. Then exit from windows to DOS to run msbackup to copy the 2.43 mb program to floppy disks, then use msbackup (if you can) in you compaq PC to restore to hard drive where hopefully you can run it. If your hard drive has a boot sector virus I also have a Win 98 boot disk that I made that might let you get to your DOS directory on compaq to run msbackup using the dosshell command on floppy boot disk. I know it's is a crazy way to do this, but if this doesn't work you might need to format hard drive & do a clean install.
