There's an institution I work with on occasion that still uses a Windows 3.1 computer. WordPerfect 6.1 documents print on a dot-matrix printer (the impact printing is useful for multiple copies of receipts, etc.).
It looks like their Fujitsu DL1100 is on its last legs. A replacement printer would be appreciated but drivers are (obviously) the issue here.
Anyone know of shops (online) that may specialize in this? This might be a good spot to just drop in links for future reference.
Drivers should not be an issue if you keep to the popular brands like Epson, Panasonic and HP. Many of the printers can generate Postscript or PCL or Epson's printer language.
Have a look at what drivers your 3.1 disk has as default and go from there.
Most of the D-M printers that were made could use some type of emulation (commonly IBM Graphics), so you could set the printer up for that and use the "IBM Graphics" driver for Win3.1 with most any program.
Dot-matrix printers are still used in so many places, one would think it impossible. But for making copies it's tough to beat the speed of an efficient D-M printer.
Google's your friend (really helps me unravel Linux mysteries), however its algorithms cannot tell me what you guys know: a worthy company you've used and have in your bookmarks. :^D
Thanks, all. Keep adding links. This is not just for me, but for anyone searching this forum for this subject.
