Yes, of course you can. I don't think there is any problem at all.

Mick C's and my suggestion:

Especially for new users or on newer systems or on bigger harddrives or a fresh install or you want to, then installing/upgrading to MS-DOS 7.10 is great.

It is only that on very old systems with smaller drives with MS-DOS 6.x installed already, then you don't need to upgrade your DOS, but you can, sure.

Thanks Wengier - just wanted to make sure. Why you are there what do your Windows GUI involve? By this I mean what files/applications are included.

I fancy trying out the Win 98 one!

One point to make here however is that MS-DOS 7.10 will not give you 'Large Disk Support' unless you prepare the drive first with FDISK or use CVT.EXE to convert a FAT16 drive to FAT32. A copy of CVT.EXE can found on my MS-DOS Resource page at PowerLoad (Link above)

http://www.oldstuff.myagora.net/powerload/notes.htm

Shows you the comparisons between FAT16 & FAT32 Drives. Interesting to note that FAT32 is most effective on Drives between 2 & 8 Gigabytes!
