OS: dos 6.2 win 3.11
CPU/Ram: 1g/1g
Comment:

I used GetDos7.0, to strip the Dos out of my win98, I then installed the Dos 7 on my 45G HD. I then Installed Win3.11. But when I tried to start it, I Got a Error message--Dos Version incompatible with Win 3.11.-- So I downloaded the 3X start Patch, but when I tried to run It I got a -Will not run under Dos,requires Windows. Catch 22 loop

maybe you are trying to execute a self-extracting file. If it is so, execute it within Windows then copy the uncompressed files to your DOS HD;

Nope when I click on 3XStart.exe in Windows It flashes a Black screen then just comes back.

I tried OSR2Kit of which 3X issuppose to be part of. same results.

"Catch-22"? I don't think so - you will find that file is a self-extracting archive, and has unpacked its files (including a help file, W3xstart.doc) into whatever folder you'd run it from.

Alternatively, you could have chosen (if WinZip is installed) 'open with WinZip)

Computers in the future may have only 1,000 vacuum tubes and perhaps only weigh 1 1/2 tons.

I read your post to mean install it on my C drive first, But I tried that, after Coping 3xstart.exe to folder C:\start. I CDed to C:start I tried Dir. 3xStart EXE was copied, but When I tyed 3xstart.exe i still get the Not in Dos mode, and 3xStart.exe is still the only thing in the Folder.

Just stumbled on this forum by chance. Reminds me of the old Packard Bell PC that I have cleared away years ago to my store room.

It has 4 MB RAM, 120 MB HDD, no network hardware, 14" monitor, 3.5" and 5.25" drives, no CDROM, and it runs DOS 6.22 & Windows 3.1. Reading these posts have made me nostalgic about the old days. I'm gonna pull it out and see if it still works!
