I have just installed netscape 4.08 on my Win 3.11 486/50 machine, but when I try to display my website (see URL below)it produces a dog's breakfast. (It displays fine with ie6)

Is something wrong with my html, or is it netscape's fault?

If this is the site about the "holiday house" between Between Avignon and Nīmes, it looks fine in Netscape 4.04. The maps and photos are sharp, text is center aligned and seems to be properly formatted. The page loads quickly.

I have netscape 4.04 running with style sheets and java turned off.

I hope you haven't posted here just to get people to look at your business venture, though.

When I display it with 4.08, words with accents are corrupted (eg Nīmes becomes N?es)and the formatting goes awry (eg the Montfrin link in the heading comes out superimposed on other parts of the text).

Could this be a bug in my version of 4.08?

(By the way, this would hardly be an efficient way of promoting my business venture, would it? Honi soit qui mal y pense!)

This problem sounds as if your browser's charset is set to UTF-8 or somesuch although the page itself needs ISO-8859-1 or whatever.
Ah yes, Netscape 4's CSS support isn't the best. If it messes up something and you can trace that back to some CSS property, use @import to import such critical stuff (or the whole stylesheet) - it doesn't understand this yet, but more modern browsers do.
