Hi I live in Somerville Masschuetts and was wondering if anybody knows where to get old computers cause my brother wants one please help me.

Try some auction sites like
www.ebay.com
www.yahoo.com
www.ubid.com
or you can try thrift stores or even the city landfill. GOOD LUCK!!

I live in Halifax ENGLAND so I am a little bit to far for you. But I pickup good working 286 & 386 Laptops and Desktops from local companies (About half of them cannot be fixed) as well as some 486 & Pentium 1's Last week I also got a box full of mixed floppy disks and Cd-ROMs that had everything from MS-DOS 3.3 & Wordstar 4.0 right up to Windows 95 & Office 95 on floppies in it. Im still checking the out!
Start working on your contacts, call up companies and ask for the IT Manager. You never know your luck. I started out asking for used Inkjet cartridges for recycling and, well just went on from there.

yeah, check with companys as they upgrade waves of computers they end up with piles of old ones. I got an entire 486 system out of a computer in a stack and monitor, keyboard and mouse that were in a drawer somewheres.
A landfill is no place for an old computer. it's a waste of a great machine (Unless every component no longer works.) :`(

I got a Compaq Deskpro 386 & two IBM/PS2's at a Thrift store where people donate things they dont use or need anymore, including computer companies, for $5 dollars a piece. I also got 3 dot matrix printers for $5 dollars apiece. And to my surprise when I got everything hooked up everything worked. I have tons of old software I have bought & collected since '92 so I had plenty of stuff to go in them. And I did not even spend $35 dollars.

I also asked about and got 15 PS/2's and 5 HP Deskjets plus cables, software and wait for it.. a safe (Yep a safe!!) for $20 from a factory near me. The IT guy had to put a price on them to get an invoice and packing note to get them out of the gate without being trashed! It pays to ask.

Try Goodwill. When my keyboard died I got one there for $5 and noticed they had lots of stuff.

every state has a surplus office. and almost every city has a surplus office. call the city informatoin and they'll tell you where it is. great stuff, really cheap!
