Comment: Please someone help me, I am doing a varsity project using an old IBM xt and was trying to set up the software that controls a ruby laser when a divide overflow error appeared. Now the machine wont boot up past the ram check, it just states divide overflow. Please someone help me!

Reply: (edit)Most times when you get this error it is due to software trying to use memory that is not available however your post seems to suggest that it is during startup which often points to some bad memory, you might want to run a memtest on this critter and try and isolate the problem from there: http://www.memtest86.com/ Have you attempted to reseat all the mem chips yet ? Keep the old stuff running
