Subject: Display problems (newer VGA card)
OS: win 3.11
CPU/Ram: P 133 and 16 mb
Comment:

1) For a school I'm installing an old 486 with windows 3.11. The VGA board the PC is using is not that old and there is no driver for Win 3.11. IS there a way to make it work (generic driver in setup doesn't work).

2) Can you make a Geforce work under Win 3.11 (800 x 600 colours)

VGA is your basic video standard for PC for a long time now. With this you get to work with a video resolution of 640X480 and 16 colours. If your card is recent you have probably SVGA with acceleration. Windows 95 would be a better choice with this card. Are you sure you can plug a recent card in a 486? Most had VESA or ISA slots(black) and no acceleration. You would need at least a PCI slot (white) to plug the accelerated card. When you install the Win 3.11 OS, choose the personalized setup and check the available video. Unless you find the drivers on a driver site(SVGA for win 3.11 does exist but this is minimal and without the acceleration), you will have to think about using Win 95.Good luck.
