Question for those of you that run windows 3.11 in VMware...
Is there a way to enhance the default vga display? VM tools doesn't support this operating system & trying to enhance from the 3.11 disks to say, super vga 800x600 256 colors just wrecks my windows (wont boot from dos & displays a driver error). Some other default display settings seem to boot up windows but just display a garbeled mess. All attempts have required me to reinstall.
Anyone had success? I've found nothing on the net as yet.
Try running it on another program Virutal PC is much better to run Windows 3.11, because it emulates hardware components that exists in real world:
* Sound Card is a Sound Blaster 16 (has drivers for Win3.11) * Graphics card is a S3 Trio 32 4MB (has drivers for Win3.11 up to TrueColor) * Network card is a DEC/Intel ???? (forgot the number now - has drivers for Win3.11)
Again , for the 'N'th time!! We need! an emulation category!! There's *WAY WAY* more people using emulators like VPC or VM ware than Win31 or BeOS users..and yet those forums exist... Anyone at Computing.net listening?
How? Have you managed to install VPC in your computer? Also, if you cannot find SB16 drivers for Win3.11 (they are easy to find) try using the defaul Sound Blaster drivers that come with Windows (they do work, but the quality is worse, as they are drivers for older SB sound cards)
How did you get the video drivers to work. I've installed DOS 6.22 and WfW 3.11 all works ok network / cdrom / internet / sound but I can't get my videocard to work..
