Hi, I was wondering if I can use a direct cable connection to connect 2 computers (one with Windows 3.11, one with Windows XP or Windows 3.11 through Virtual PC) through the printer port and access network resources, such as shared folders, and a Web/FTP server on the other computer. I have the proper cable, and have been using Total Commander software, but this only allows me to access files on the older computer. I have also gotten WfW 3.11 to run on Microsoft Virtual PC, and used Intersvr/Interlnk, but, again, this only allows me to access files. Is there a way to install direct cable connection as a network driver, or software that will run on WfW 3.11 that allows me to access networks?

The only MS-DOS based software is PLIP "Parallel Port Packet Driver"

The XP side is problematic due to Direct Port Access Limitation.

This is the NT O/S "DOS" Packet Driver 'ndis3pkt 2.2 for Windows/NT 4.0, Windows2000, XP, and 2003':
You may be able to run PLIP under XP ????

I had been using LapLynx by Sewell on my varied Operating systems. It works in a DOS mode, but talked good until I broke off one plug. I connected two computers to each other that were in house and out in 40 foot away garage. Have a CNC there, and it is running Win 3.1 still.
This homemade wire is only operating piece still going once I broke the red cable.
