Depends on what you want to do.

If you wipe windows 3.1, you'd have to reinstall all the programs you have, You could backup your personal files, and do a full reformat of your harddrive to make it clean and a whistle then install win95 (make sure you make yourself a good DOS bootdisk WITH CDROM drivers loaded and works first, though)

Well on second thought why woudl you wanna run those old 3.1 progs in win95 anyways.....

I have the same question as Alan: is there any simple way in doing this upgrade to Win95 from 3.11, without going through the trouble of reformatting the drive? I don't remember how to make a dos bootdisk..Thanks for all your advice.

I to wanted to upgrade from 3.11 to win95 so I could network my new and old computer together. I was told from microsoft that there was no such upgrade program. they suggested a full format which I did then reinstall win95, all I got for all this effort is that it erased everything from my hard drive including my bios. Does anyone know how I can retrieve that information so at least the computer is functional again.

I recently had the same problem. Luckily, I found full install version of DOS 6.2. I formatted C: and installed 6.2. Since my cdrom drivers were also gone. I had a cdrom driver install that installed from a floppy. Once the cd driver was loaded, I installed the full version 95 onto my computer. After it is installed put in your 95 startup disk and you've got it.
