I have a creative labs ct2950 w/ a sony cd-rom cdu55E coming off the IDE port on the card. I don't have the drivers for these devices and have had no luck finding on various websites. Need to reload operating system from the CD-ROM.

First you should just try installing the Sound blaster basic files;

sbbasic.exe

http://www.creativehelp.com/files/download.asp?OS=Win3x&prod=sb_16

Maybe The soundcard installation has the CD-ROM drivers included.

There are some drivers for this CD-ROM drive at www.driverguide.com.

register up there and after you get a username and password go to MEMBER LOGIN, then the search TAB. Type CDU-55E for the search box labeled

"Enter any keyword (such as company name, model #, driver name, fccid #, etc.)"

Sony has drivers for that CD-ROM but they are specific for different soundcards/interface cards.

Good luck

Creative DOES have the software for this card (I have one). I found it once. I can't remember if it's under CT2950 (SoundBlaster Pro 16 PnP for the record) or not, but you want the "Plug and Play Configuration Manager", aka ICU (Intel Configuration Utility). This is what was included with the card, along with the basic SB16 DOS utilities (play.exe, record.exe, mixerset.exe, etc.). The basic utilities are about the same for all of the cards.

Once PnP Config Mgr is installed, it will assign the cards resources. Then you need to obtain any plain old generic ATAPI CD-ROM driver (contrary to popular belief, there is no functional difference between the sony driver and, say, the mitsumi drivers I always use). In the config.sys line for the cd-rom driver, add /p:168,10 (the sound card's ide port lands on addr 168, irq 10 - the 'fourth' ide channel)
