Ok i followed instrutions on this web site... http://www.btinternet.com/~robert.bale1/index.html
when i try to copy files to floppy it gives me incorrect parameter error what am i doing wrong

You know how on the cd there are cab files. Copy the cab files to 1.4 mb diskettes like if the cab file is 3 copy it to disk 3. The first disk is usually the setup files in the directry setup not the cab files. It will be like 12 to 25 disks so I would get quite a bit of floppys. I did this with windows 95 version c a couple years ago.
Hope this helps you out.Jason

ok i formated 29 floppies to 1.7 mb cuz 1.4 is to small for as the cab files are 1.63 mb i belive anyways i copied the first disk which is the setup disk to a 1.4 mb becuz win3.1 cant read dmf (1.7mb) format. when i go to copy disk 2 wich is precopy2 and win95_2 it say "cannot copy file incorrect parameter" so im stuck and i spent a day surfing the net looking for what this error means and came up more confused then when i started.I know im very close to making this work its just that im doing somthing wrong any info is appreciated. thanx for reply jason

I did the same thing as you when copying Windows 95 to my laptop. It is really very simple. All you have to do is install Winzip on both computers. After that, add each seperate cab file to it's own zip file on a disk. It won't compress them, but it will allow you to do multiple disk spanning. Then, on the second computer, extract them to a folder on your hard drive, and winzip will ask you for the second disk. It took me about an hour to do this, but it worked. THen, run the WIndows 95 installer, and it should allow you to install from the directory on your hard drive. If you don't have the upgrade version of Windows 95, you may have to delete WIndows 3.1 before you start installing.
