Comment:
My Contura 3/25 was working fine last night until I went into System Setting to try and give my notebook some color. I changed something to or from VGA w/Mono... in the System Setting menu.
Now my system will turn on and go through the steps of loading the setting etc, but after it's done there is Nothing
but a blank screen, and there is no mouse curser movement either. Before I did this, everything such as Microsoft Office, Main,
Games etc would appear after login.
Someone gave this laptop to me for word processing, so I do not have the original disks or manual. Please help,
Thanks
Denise

Hi Denise:
When you boot to Win 3.1 your screen setting is set to a video driver that will not show a picture on your screen. To fix that you most likely need to change the video setting back to VGA, so there are 2 way to do that. First to exit Win 3.1 using keys (ALT/F4 then Enter) should get you to DOS prompt c:\, from there use dosshell to find setup.exe file in Windows directory to run & change video back to VGA. The second way is to use Edit command to open & change [boot] display.drv=VGA.drv in system.ini, this is harder to to so be careful.Good luck.

Thanks a lot Z, it worked! I had to go in and change the setting back to VGA. I have another question, how can I add Color or is this series too old?
Thanks

Denise, I also own a Compaq Contura 3/25 Laptop...the only way to add color is to use an external Color Monitor...both the Contura 3/20 & 3/25 came with Monochrome VGA screens...the Contura 4/20 & 4/25 series came with Color VGA screens...
HTH...
