Comment: hi i got a compaq laptop it had windows 3.11 on it and dos 6.22 and this other dos that still works if you pull out the hard drive so it must be on the mpter board but can any one tell me how to enter bios thanks

Reply: (edit)Restart the machine, as soon as a cursor appears in the top right hand corner press F10. That should get you into the BIOS. You can download the manual for the LTE Elite family from here, ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/forum/portables/eliteiol014.hlp

As Compaq laptops store settings in a small harddrive partition that can only be accessed if the correct files have been loaded at systen setup (or later!)

At the moment, the notebook is completely dead, and i presume the battery's flat. The AC wire doesnt work either..is my notebook broken?

Reply: (edit)I saw something on the Compaq site about an AC cable recall. I also just purchased a used LTE Elite 4/75CX and Smartstation. However, I can't seem to get into BIOS by either of the methods mentioned above, so I don't know why the ATAPI Driver can't see the drive.
