I own an LTE 5300 which i use frequently running windows 98se. Pretty good laptop, 12.1" screen, though here in Australia its hard to get parts. I had to buy RAM for it from USA.
I have a Compaq Desakpro 486/33m that had a similar problem, I downloades the BIOS disks, and set it up, no problems. Is it an EISA computer, those are a little tricky, especialy Compaq ones (which is what mine is). Press F1 if when booting a white rectangular cursor appears in the upper right corner of the screen, the the CMOS setup is already on the harddisk, press F10 at that time to set it up.

That holds true only if the machine has the original HDD or has had it's partition restored to HDD. Machines that have the drive replaced (at least initially) have to have the machine set up by floppy. If memory (and bookmarks) serve, the download is here:
Hello T-R-A: I try to repair my LTE 386s/20 - the CMOS Battery is changed, but the CMOS Setup doesn´t run as you described above (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/obsolete_diagnostics.html) - Executing SP0308.EXE writes File DAIGS80B._01 and QRST.EXE to floppy. Executing QRST.EXE requires a 720 Floppy (I don´t have). Who has an idea to repair my old Laptop. After starting I read: 162-System Options Not Set (Run Setup) Insert DIAGNOSRIC diskette in Drive A: 163-Time & Date Not Set How can I enter the CMOS manually - what key I have to type ?
I bought a new CMOS battery. I downloaded the SP0308.zip into my documents, winzipped it then saved it onto a 720kb disk. When put onto lte 286 it says: "Invalid system disk" what can i do? thanks
hogwarts: You'll have to "make" a bootable 720K floppy from a 1.44 (cover the hole on the top right as you look from the back of the disk). I had the same problem with my PortableII until I figured that one out.
liam8910: The file you downloaded is a zipped image file and you need to extract (write) it to a floppy from your drive after you un-zip it...
