Hallo, I have got a compaq deskpro xe 466. It is a 486dx2/66 pc with Windows for workgroup 3.11 and Dos 6.22.
1) I don't know what sound-card is installed in (but there is one!).. and then my lovely 486 has no sound.. only "beep" :(
Do you know my sound-card and its addres and drivers?
2) are there any wfw3.11's movieplayers that can manage "file.asf"?
Thank you!

Compaq 486 Deskpro's came with an onboard soundblaster clone called "Compaq Business Audio". I think the drivers are still available from the compaq web site. I have a DX250 Deskpro as well as a 486/33 which use these drivers.

Failing that it may be "Windows Sound System" compatible and you could try that if all else fails.

I guess you have already tried using old Soundblaster Pro drivers?

Thank you for your suggestion; at least now I know that my souncard is Soundblaster compatible..but when I test wfw3.11's soundblaster driver 1.0 (but also 1.5), it doesn't work. It asks me a "port" (with these possible values:210,220,230,240,250,260) and an "interrupt"(with these possible values:2,3,5,7). I have tested all the values combinations but the answere is always:"the port setting does not match those on the card. Check your hardware settings, and then try again".
Then I have used a DOS program (hwinfo) that checks my hardware... It says that my soundcard is "NCIPHER"(??) and its device ID is 0100(??).. I don't know what it means.. What can I do? (can you send me the correct driver?)
Thank you!
