Comment:
I have decided to make the jump from 3.1 to 95 but I am having trouble getting my computer to see my cd-rom. I have the 95/98 boot disk and I assumed it would have all the drivers. I ran the install cd-rom driver option but it will not load the OS because it cant find the cd-rom. On restart I get a driver not installed message. Thanks for any help

It sounds to me as you need to goto http://www.windrivers.com then find your drivers any way possible.
If you dont know the Brand of it do this: Find the FCC ID # and inout that in the correct spot on the site, and it will tell you who manufactured it or when it was manufactured.
If you Know the Brand do this: Input the company using a search (beginner) then find the listing for that CD-ROM drive, then that will bring you to the company's webpage, and you should be able to find the set of drivers which you need.
Hope that helps! If not, it may be easier to buy a new CD-ROM for about $25 at a Best Buy!

I think the problem you have is that you need a cd-rom driver for win 3.1 (16 bits) You can find what you need here
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/freelinks2001
Look for "Drivers-CD-Rom - Mouse and more"
You should have no problem downloading the zip file containing the driver(s) you need
