I am trying to get cd-rom drive working on older compaq prolinea 466, i installed a universal driver and now getting a message at startup; "Device driver not found SSC000"
no valid cdrom drivers selected. can anyone help with next step.

did you install the file
mscdex.exe?? its needed in the same file folder as the cd-rom driver

Looks like an older machine. What model
CD Drive are you trying to install?

It has model #CR 574-B on the label.

At least it is an ATAPI drive. Vintage
about 1995. Did you check your config.sys
and autoexec.bat so that the device names
match SSC000? The device name makes me
feel that a SCSI driver was loaded.
