System 350c IBM LAPTOP "386"
everytime i try to load the boot-disk, it aborts when trying to load a cd-rom driver BUT I DON'T HAVE A CD-ROM, then it goes back to a:\ how can I get it to ignore the cd-rom..Win 3.11 is already loaded but I can't run Dos in Windows...I'm confused need help.

A little confused, if you have 3.1 then there must be a version of DOS on your hard drive and you just exit out of windows to DOS. If you are trying to boot the computer from floppy then I would suggest you make another boot disk, Win98 boot disks are very handy, links can be found at http://www.mwpms.uklinux.net/links5.htm

Hmmm, sounds a bit like this post.
Win31 runs from DOS - not the other way around.
Would have been better to install DOS first - but, okYou can boot 'clean' by hitting F5 once you see the familiar 'starting MS-DOS' message - or you can hit F8 - confirm each line.
OR
Open autoexec.bat & config.sys on the floppy using DOS Edit or whatever plain text editor you have available (like notepad).
In config.sys look for something like
DEVICE=OAKCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD001
and change to
rem DEVICE=OAKCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD001
in autoexec.bat look for
MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001
and likewise change to
rem MSCDEX.exe /D:MSCD001
That will stop the CD stuff from loading
