Hi, I downloaded CalmiraII 3.2 and when I unzip and extract to floppy it gets to Tips file and then says error writing to disk, too full. I tried three floppies and it does the same on all three. I am going through the same unzip process as I used for dos622 and win31 and did not meet any problems with those. What is wrong? Thanks for any advice, I am doing all this using win98se 3.5 floppy, winzip program, and trying to install in my 486 running dos622 with win31. Mary

Also, while I am here, I am also trying to get my cdrom working. I downloaded the cdindos.exe files and installed on my 486. Now at boot up when it is trying to load CD-ROM it says:
CD_ROM Device Driver for IDE (Four Channels supported) (C)Copywright Oak Technology Inc.1993-1996 Driver Version:V340 Device Name: IDECD000 No drives found, aborting installation.
C:\>C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.exe /X
Device driver not found: 'IDECD000'
No valid CDROM device drivers selected
Device driver not found: 'IDECD000'
No vaid CDROM device drivers selected
I did not type the above twice by accident, that is how it appears. I could use help with this also. Thanks again, Mary
And when I load Win31 and go into File Manager I see it listed like this:
c:\
cdrom
dos
windows
and on the right side:
C:[MS-DOS_6]
cdrom
dos
windows
autoexec.aii
autoexec.bat
autoexec.old
command.com
config.aii
config.old
config.sys
mscdex.exe
wina.20 386

It would seem to me that you might try to format each desk before you use it.Alot times
it is also alot better to start with a new disk. Did you check to see if there is something on the disk before hand? You must
remember that you can only squeeze 1.44 mb on
one floppy. Also check the disk to see if on
the left side has a little black cover over it.
If not, turn it over and flip that little
switch up. good luck...

Mary,
Your 486 may have an older proprietary CD-ROM drive attached to it. It may be hooked up to a CD-ROM controller card or a sound card. In either case the best thing to do is to open up your computer case, get the make and model number of your CD-ROM drive and also get the same information for any sound card or controller card it might be attached to.
Then search for the specific driver for that CD-ROM drive.
If you find that it is attached to a sound card, the sound card installation program might include installation of the CD-ROM drive. Otherwise you will want to find drivers for both.

Did you download the Calmira II 3.20 v with the Installer? That download is only 1.10 mb.
You should have more than enough room to download that progrom. As for the cd-rom ,I
just installed one on my dads old 486,It is
not as easy as it looks. Now once you get Calmira setup,You will need a program called
winwall, and winlogo. To find those programs
just look on this post one up or down.
Or you can get it at www.winsite.com.

I am downloading and unzipping on my win98se
pc, and I do not want to unzip to my hard drive, right? I downloaded CalmiraII 3.2 I will go try the 3.0 with installer. After I successfully install Calmira on the 486, then I will challenge the cd-rom. Then I will install internet. Thanks for all your suggestions, it really helps alot.
Mary

You can download it right to a floppy disk,
It is what you prefer..I too have windows 98 se. My other 3 pcs are win 3.1 with Calmira II
with v.3.20 on them. What download manager
are you using?? You can download it to desktop
the once the download is done and you are
off line,You Just right click on the program
and send it to floppy drive..
Ghostman 1 :-)

That is what I do Ghostman. I download to the desktop. And then to the floppy. Someone gave me that tip a while back, could have been you. bundit, you are absolutely RIGHT. My question was more about why it is not holding the complete download of CalmiraII 3.2.Thanks Mary

Check the disk and see if it says for IBM ps/2
and Compatibles (1.44mb) I use FUJIFILM MF2HD
Formatted. Now I am not sure why you can't
get it all on one disk. Also there is a program called file splitter. Now this program
will split the file in half to 2 floppy disk.
But you shouldn't have to do this.Which site
did you download Calmira at? I will go there and check things out for you.
Ghostman 1

well, it was a link sent to me in my email. And I do not get an exact address, because of good old aol. But if you would click on my email I will send it back to you Ghostman 1. Thanks, Mary
