Hi all, I'm in the process of building my own computer. I've gotten tired of buying PC's retail only to open them up and see little upgrade ability and a lot of cheap parts. Well any way... Here's what I have so far:
1)300watt screwless ATX case (Nice Design)
2)Asus CUSL2-c "Black Pearl" LE Mobo
3)PIII 933Mhz CPU
4)2x 256 sdram (512 is the max for the Mobo)
5)Teac 8x4x48 CDRW (I prefer slow burns)
6)40 Gig Western Digital HD (Master)
7)6 Gig Maxtor HD (Slave) For downloads and CD replication.

I'm trying to decide what kind of graphics card and sound card are best, and would like some outside input. Video cards I'm leaning toward the ATI RADEON 32DDR and sound cards I'm leaning toward the Sound Blaster Platnum.
Thanx in advance for all the info.

Sean.

Look folks, Please don't hate. It took me over 7 months to save up the money to get the parts that I have so far, and that's with cannibalizing my old PC for parts( sob, I loved that old CompUSA PII. I only posted the question here because you guys were very helpful with a motherboard question I had. I have two PC's that run windows 3.11 and I savlaged those from my jobs throw-aways. So to the guy who called me a bragger, I only started building this PC because I couldn't afford to buy a new one in one shot. So if there is anyone with an opinion about Graphic and Sound cards I'd be glad to have your input, and if you want a win 3.1 question does anyone know a way to link a Win ME and Win 3.1 PC so that the Win 3.1 machine could use the others CD Rom? If there's a program please tell me where I can find it.

Sean.

UGH! You're going to use WINDOWS?!!!?!?!?!?!
What worse way to slow down your really fast computer (I mean that seriously, it's a fast system) than by using Windows? Get a real OS, like Linux, that won't cost you anything more, and get more for what you've payed for your system.

Thank you Anon...
I've thought about using Linux for a while now, but I don't know where to start. And I'm worried about compatability issues for all my old games and apps. Maybe there is a way to dual boot it while I learn.
