Download this:

http://basicqbasic.tripod.com/files/stuff/win31boot.zip

...then unzip it. If you don't have it already, download WINIMAGE (www.winimage.com).
Then open the unzipped file (from win31boot.zip) in WinImage, this will create a bootable floppy.

Hope this helps,

Yes I tried that and it was unavailable to download and if it is a win 3.1 boot disk I have dos 5.0 or 6.0 installed on it.

The Win 3.1 boot disk based on MS-DOS 6.22 recommended by Kdog849 will also work with PC-DOS from IBM installed on the computer and Calmira. It will also boot the modified Win 3.1 setup based on MS-DOS 7 from Win 98.Good luck.

The link worked for me...??

Try this:
http://quickb.homestead.com/files/win31boot.zip

You may have to RIGHT click the link and select "Save Target As..." or "Save As...".

Have you enabled 'boot from floppy' in the CMOS, and set a: as the first boot device?

Just a thought - you've had virus problems - make sure you set the write protect tab on the boot disk, after you make it, to protect it from infection.

If you need a boot disk I'm sure you'll find an appropriate one that will work on this page:

Make sure you are letting WinImage "Format and Create Floppy" with the WINDOWS 3.1 boot file and after its done push the tab up to write protect it, then go into your BIOS and set it to first boot device A: (or "Floppy"). Then SAVE and EXIT and restart your computer with the floppy in.

If that doesn't work try making a new dos 5.0 one, and use FDISK to delete all the partitions, then install DOS, then Win31.
(You can find dos and windows 31 on http://winvision.vze.com)

Let me know if this works.

I have tried all of that and done the right protect on the disk it still says starting dos then freezes and won't let me boot from floppy. The floppy setting oin the cmos is set otherwise it wouldnot be saying remove disk and press any key i believe it is a virus but i can't get into dos with a boot disk could it be the motherboard?

It could be the motherboard, I would try to replace the floppy drive first. My suspicion is that the floppy drive is going bad. Don't hire a computer technician to do it, it would be too expensive :) You can buy one at like OfficeMax for $30, or at used computer stores for $3 (those aren't always working though)
