Reply: (edit) My favorite MP3 player for WIndows 3.1 is Winplay 3.
http://www.iis.fhg.de/amm/download/index.html For a 486, you probably want to go into OPTIONS and change the settings to lower the settings so you can play downloaded MP3s without stuttering. For Wav players I just use whatever software I might have download for my sound card, or just the default windows 3.1 Media player. I don't have opinions on a video or WMA player. Good luck

Reply: (edit)I have to agree that Winplay 3 is a fine player. I think Audio Active 1.3, which is almost the same is also good. With my 486 system and GUS PnP soundcard it was even faster then Winplay. Other options for your system are DOS players (mostly available for Soundblaster compatible cards) and i myself use XTC-Player 0.97 I am looking for the Windows 3.1 version of Destiny Player, which i cannot download from their site anymore........

Reply: (edit)Microsoft has Windows MediaPlayer 5.2 Beta 16bit for ASF/WMV files but codecs are almost not available so it doesn't work wel. Also a very good Player is QV a fully working shareware DOS player. www.multimediaware.com/qv This program is so amazing. It plays almost anything execp wmv/asf until now(renaming asf to avi might work)
