My old family computer had Windows 3.1 on it. It died, but thankfully we backed up the HD onto 18 floppies. They have the filenames BACKUP.001 (and then .002 for the second, and so on.). The problem is that I have a newer computer(note specs /\ ) which SHOULD run Windows 3.1. I have 1 partition with WIN98SE, MorphixLite(with LILO as the boot loader) and I have a 100MB partition for Windows 3.1. I cannot seem to extract the files cuz I want Windows 3.1 on the extra partition. I have two backup programs, but one says no files can be extracted from floppy and the other says "not a .qic file". Got any ideas? Windows 3.1 is classic, and we have a lot of miscellanious files (such as bank records, short stories, and pictures) that would be nice to have back.
Any help would be thoroughly appreciated.P.S.
a quick note, I am using Win98SE to extract the files, and I have no way of getting on the old DOS(to my knowledge)Jugung-nocoso-karekaray, be friends you two! - Sasami/SailorMoon, lol.

get on my bad side, I just might send you to /dev/null.

I have a selection of MS-DOS Bootdisks and DOS/Win Backup files. Did you backup via DOS or Windows versions of Backup? A DOS Bootdisk with RESTORE on it may be able to help. But I have to tell you MS Backup was querky at the best of times!
Do you have any vital data to recover, or would a fresh install if Win31 do?
Last but not least...A Windows 98SE based PC will not run Windows 3.1 from the DOS Prompt. It needs to be patched with 3XSTART.

okay, I fixed several things.
I installed 3.11 on a separate partition(I need a boot disk to access though)
Win98SE on another (and morphix on another, but that does not matter now.)When it was installed it did not include the backup or restore ability...ticked me off.
My brother made the backup files. I'd have to ask him. But I would think in Windows 3.1.
The windows3.1/98SE confict is not a problem for me right now. But I still don't know the backup/restore .exe location, anyone know where I can download it?

I might be wrong but I think the catalogue file for backed up files is created on the last of the floppies, and that's the file that the system uses to restore the files to their original location.

Read Response One again and download BACKUP/RESTORE Utiliy from my PowerLoad Resorce Pages!
