My computer was having trouble booting up so I used the boot up disk to start over. Well, as I was in the DOS menu reconfiguring everything, I selected to change my AUTOEXEC and CONFIG files to their default. Now the computer won't recognize my CD-ROM. I know that I need to change the CD-ROM setup to AUTOEXEC.FX and CONFIG.SYS, but how do I do this? Please help.

I'd suggest you simply copy the CD-Rom driver lines from your old files to the new ones.
First, run edit.com and then "open" the config.fx file. Look for the driver entry that controls your CD-Rom. My driver line looks like this:
Device=C:\cdrom\oakcdrom.sys /d:gem001
copy the line in your config.fx file that controls your CD-Rom.
Next, open your config.sys file and "paste" the CD-Rom driver in a blank line. Make sure it comes after the himem.sys line.
Next, open the autoexec.fx file and copy the line that looks similar to this:
c:\windows\command\mscdex.exe /d:gem001
This line loads the mscdex.exe program in my computer and is part of the CD-Rom controller software.
Copy the line and then open autoexec.bat and paste it in there.
Hopefully, this will do the trick.
You can e-mail me copies of all 4 files if you'd like me to do it for you.
Best of luck,
Preston
