Hi, I am trying to install win 3.1 audio drivers on my old laptop as an exercise. I am nostalgic about my old software and computers.
I got the laptop to run win 3.1 but as far as sound, nothing is installed. Please help

It would help if you could tell us the manufacturer of the Sound Chipset, or even the exact model of HP Laptop.

Assuming that Windows 3.1 sound drivers were developed for your Make/Model of laptop, you will have to find that software. It will be by the manufactuer of the laptop, perhaps on a CD-ROM that came with the laptop or available for download on the website. Just make sure it is for your Make/Model and for Windows 3.1, then from the "File" menu in Program Manager select "Run" and provide the path to the setup program.

thank you for the tip , I need to find some info about my computer and then I will try to load the sound drivers.
thanks for pointing me in the right direction

This is just for FYI. A sound driver install file for the following models can be found at the website below.
Inspiron- 6000, 93000, 9200, 2200, 1200, XPS Gen 2
Latitude- D610, D810, 110L, D510, D410, X1
Precision- M20, M70
Computers- MXG051
ftp://ftp.dell.com/audio/R99254.EXE
If you don't have sound, download and run it.
