I have the full 25 disk set of office 4.2 and a 486 pc 66mhz 16mb of ram, Dos 6.22 Win 3.11 WFWG and i am having a problem installing office. When ever i run the Setup.exe file on disk one it comes up with a message Not Enough Memory, Quit all applications and try again. But i have enough memory and i am not running anything. So could someone tell me how to fix this or could someone send me a copy of the entir contents of disk one incase it is a corrupted file which is causing the problem. Many Thanks and Please Reply as i am at my wits ends.

Try installing ram doubler then try reinstalling office.

Hi Mike:
This is just a guess, but check your basic memory (640k) in DOS c:\mem to see how much
conventional memory is available. Don't know if that can effect installing office, but worth a look at, you could try a memory
program like Qemm to increase the basic
memory, I know that some DOS games won't run if memory is too low.

Good luck.

Thanks again still having no luck. Could someone please tell me where i could get QEMM from for free. And to Vinnie who posted if you happen to see this could you tell me your system stats. Like Memmory amount. Dos that you use and win that you use and what memmory settings you have in place in your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. The same goes to any one who has a win 3.1 system and OFFICE 4.2 working. Many Thanks Mike.

To Vinnie.
Thanks a lot. I have sent you an email concerning the disks. Please do not spend ages zipping the disks. Also does it need a serial number or unlock code.

Thanks Again Mike
I'M actually getting somewhere.

Make sure you are not running Windows in standard mode. Make sure himem.exe is mentioned in your config.sys. Check your virtual memory in your Windoows control centre.

Suggestion: why not just run MEMMAKER.exe from your DOS and let is release more basic memory space.
