Generally if you have a CD-ROM drive that is attached to a soundcard/interface card, you need to install the drivers for that first.

Shut your computer down, touch the case to discharge static, then pull your card out.

Hopefully there is an easy to identify brand and model number on the card.

If not look at the main chip and use the part number on there to search for the drivers.
