Hello,

I know there are many threads and whatever about this. But I really need some instructions on how to put windows 3.1 on a PC with a formatted hard drive and how to put dos 4.1 or whatever on there and all of the files.

Email me

Please I'm desperate

Cheers

Are you trying to install it on your XP system (you state that in your specs), or on a completely different machine? Either way, I'd stick with DOS 6.22 instead of anything earlier...

First do a DOS install (originally posted some time ago---start with where I pick up on response #3, and note my "modification" in response #4):

http://www.computing.net/answers/do...

After installing DOS, install Windows 3.1 by inserting disk 1 in the floppy drive and typing "A:\setup" (without the quotes). Insert next disks as prompted.

Realize also that MS-DOS won't recognize a partition larger than 2.1GB and won't recognize a hard-drive larger than 8.4GB. It also won't utilize more than 64MB of RAM (and I've seen where more than 32MB actually slows things down).
