Just open Notepad and write the following down and then save the file as Config.sys Do the same with Autoexec.bat.And save the file as Autoexec.bat. Save both in your root directory."C:"

In Your Config.sys file write:

DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.exe
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH
COUNTRY=044,,C:\DOS\COUNTRY.SYS
DEVICE=C:\DOS\DISPLAY.SYS CON=(EGA,,1)
FILES=30
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS
STACKS=9,256

In your Autoexec.bat write:

@ECHO OFF
C:\SMARTDRV.exe
PROMPT $P$G
PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\DOS
SET TEMP=C:\DOS
MODE CON CODEPAGE PREPARE=((437)
MODE CON CODEPAGE SELECT=437
KEYB UK,,C:\DOS\KEYBOARD.SYS

Thats all.

If you have a boot disk copy config.sys and autoexec.bat to the C:\ directory.

BEFORE you do that, try using Undelete.exe

Type c:\dos\undelete c:\ from the dos prompt. You may be able to recover both files with your onw personnal settings.
