How can you hook up a compaq contura 4/25 to a 10/100 standard t1 network when it does not have a pccard slots or does not have it internally on the motorboard. The enchanced com slot has the modem was there a net card for this slot I dont know. Can yall help me? I know there is parellel cdroms and soundcards etc but is there a net card?

Interesting question. I am about to receive as a gift two 386 laptops and I will have a similar problem. I imagine there is an adapter you can use, it might cost a few dollars. I would expect that you will still be held to the maximum data transfer capabilities of the parallel port. A google search will surely provide answers. good luck

XircomŪ Pocket Ethernet Adapter and XircomŪ Pocket Ethernet II Adapter from intel. According to intel's web site; "These products are no longer being manufactured by Intel. Additionally, Intel no longer provides interactive support for these products via telephone or e-mail, nor will Intel provide any future software updates to support new operating systems or improve compatibility with third party devices and software products." I have one of the the XircomŪ Pocket Ethernet II Adapter and it works great with my IDSL connection to the net.

Yes, there are/were parallel port NICs; if I'm not mistaken I saw some on Accton's support page. BTW Xircom was only bought by Intel recently (2000 or 2001).
