486/win 3.11 - floppy disk fail/missing oper sys msg

received 'floppy disk(s) fail (40), press f1 to continue, del to enter setup msg. pressed f1, system config screen came up then 'missing operating system' msg appeared. Sys config listed drive a: 1.44, 3.5, drive b 1.2m 5.25 in, hard disk drive c: type 17, 40 mb, display t ype ega/vga, serial ports 3f8 2f8, parallel ports 378. I don't have system disks. Please advise. thanks

sounds like you may have left a floppy in one of the drives... and it tryed to boot off of it???? if not could be a bad (Physically) drive... try to format a disk in each drive if it cannot format that disk or tryes to format it anything but what the system config. called for ie... 1.44 and 1.2 system set up (bios) may be set wrong.. good luck.

Re-install dos, that should fix it if it commin up with press F1, then goes into c-mos, u need a new clock battery installed

win git there it ask forpassword and win try to give it not any the keys woork but enter so with do do. i do not have a password for it
