386 MCW computer won't boot

My old portable MCW computer won't boot up anymore. It has a 386 Intel motherboard. I think that the on-board battery is dead. It has a Varta N3310 battery soldered to the motherboard. Any ideas as to how I can replace the battery? I can't find any replacement for it.

Does that battery have a voltage indication on it ? My old 486 had a 3.6 volt Ni-mH battery soldered on. I was able to go to Radio Shack and get a replacement. You obviously need to know the voltage and how many leads. Have you tried the Varta website, and maybe e-mail them for an idea ? www.varta.com/eng though I tried a search there, and couldn't find that model number. There are places that sell Varta batteries in the USA, you might want to call them. http://www.tnrtechnical.com/varta-batteries.html BUt again, perhaps if you unsolder the battery and take it to Radio Shack or Batteries Plus, you might get another similar one with leads you can solder in. I have seen some wire leads that look like they just lay in the machine, as opposed to the battery sitting tight on the board. Good luck. TnT
