This may sound strange but I thought it would be cool if I could get it to work. Can I run Windows 3.1 on my 64 meg Compact Flash card??? If so how could I run it? Wouldn't it be cool though if it would run on it. Pluging it into any pc with a usb port and running it. Just a thought but probably wouldn't work.

There is no reason why it would not work.It has been done befor. As long as your pc is capable of booting off of the usb ports. Most (I think all) Compact flash readers are seen as a hard drive by the pc.Some things you need to keep in mind.Keep the swap file on your main hard drive.CF have a limited read/write life. Not sure the exact amount and it vareys with brand. This is normaly not an issue when used in cameras and such but the OS can kill one very quikly.

Windows 98 & 98se (MS-DOS 7.10) have a major problem with Windows 3.1 - Microsoft fixed IO.SYS to reject it! - But help is at hand, there is a simple fix in the form of the 3XSTART Patch available from www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk on the 3x page. This patchs the 98 IO.SYS to run Windows 3.1.

Install 3.1 to directory called say WIN31 (anything other than \Windows)DO NOT use a permanent swop file only a temporary one pointing to Drive C:\

If you read the file 3xstart.doc in full before use. This patch s safe.

powerload also offer a MS-DOS 7.10 Bootdisk already patched AND reading 'MS-DOS 7.10' on Startup and Ver! Very neat indeed.

I have a IOMEGA 100MB Bootable Zip Disk with (Patched) MS-DOS 7.10 & Windows 3.11 that works just great.

Are there any post's or links that show how to install 3xstart and windows 3.1 from start to finish in detailed instructions.

I have computer with 27gig drive, windows 98 second edition, windows 3.1, ms-dos 6.22 if needed and 3xStart.

Do I need to repartition my hard drive?

Please direct to links or posts that fully cover this topic.

3XSTART has very detailed install instructions in its help file 3xstart.doc

Here is the direct download address :

http://www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk/download/3xStart.exe

As long as you do as it says, Its a simple once only operation.

And no you do not need to repartition your hard drive, and if installed as directed you do not need MS-DOS 6.22 as it uses MS-DOS 7.10 from Windows 98/98se

If you can solve the booting problem of your Compact Flash Card you could of course use MS-DOS 6.22 if you wanted to anyway.
