A freeze dryer at work uses windows for workgroups 3.11 and the app won't run on anything else.
The computer died. Tried to fix it and finally paid $350 for a new Compaq presario running XPhome. In anticipation of the computer failing, we made a mirror copy on a modern 40gig HD. With a boot disk, this drive will run 3.11 on the presario. I would like to also access the HD that came with the Presario for drivers, etc.
the bios recognizes the HD, but windows does not. When I go into MSD, DOS does not recognize the second hard drive. The CD-rom is drive D in config.sys -- I got that running by reading through this forum thank you very much. How do I get DOS 6.22/WWG 3.11 to recognize the second drive. The first is set as master and the second as slave on the jumpers and the CD shows on the bios as Secondary Master.
If I use the second drive (and xphome as the OS) xphome will recognize the first drive as the slave (of course I switched the jumpers and cables around to do this) so I know the drive is good.

The drive that came with the new computer is most likely formatted to NTFS, a file system which DOS can't access without a third party utility.

The download for the free read-only version is at the bottom of the page. For full read/write access, you'd have to pay for it.
