Comment:
I accidently changed the resolution on my windows screen and now I cannot access my windows program. I only see a multicolored screen. I have tried using the win and config sys files, but it loading correctly, just not getting a correct image. Is there anything else I can to to adjust the resolution without having to reinstall windows?

Hi cherit: After your PC boots to Win 3.1 hit Alt/F4 then Enter key to exit Windows to DOS prompt. From there use c:/dosshell to find the setup.exe file in windows directory & launch it to change your video driver to VGA setting. Another way is to use Edit command to change system.ini to read as follows under [boot] section.
[boot] display.drv=vga.drv
Good luck. Z

Yes, you can open your system.ini file from the Dos prompt and look for the line that says display.drv=whatever.drv, and change it to display.drv=vga.drv. This should return you to a 640x480 resolution with 16 colors (default), but at least then you can go in Windows and use Windows setup to reset your screen to what it used to be.
This can also be achieved using setup from the Dos prompt, and changing the display settings from there, but i haven't done that in quite some time, so i can't be very precise on how to proceed, sorry... No machine operating Win 3.1 at my disposal at the moment :(
