I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to get 3.1 running. I have dos 6.2 installed and working. I installed windows 3.1. When I type the win command, though, it goes to a screen with nothing but a little blinking white line in the top left corner. Anybody know how to resolve this issue?

You need to explain a little further. That's a +3GHz machine, and you state your OS as WinXP. DOS and XP don't necessarily cooperate with one another unless you're doing something like dual-booting or running DOS inside a VM...

Is MS-DOS 6.2x installed on the C: drive, ie prior to installing another O/S and on a max 2GB FAT16 Partition ??

It has to be assumed that you first got DOS booting up okay and then you ran the normal Win3.1 setup from the DOS already on the hard drive. Now, the normal setup automatically re-writes the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat to start Windows on boot up, unless you selected not to do that. Since you say that you are manually starting Windows with the "Win" command, then does that mean that you selected "No" when asked during Windows setup about modifying the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files? And, if you selected "No", then did you modify the files yourself to support Windows? Also, during setup, what kind of video card did you select to use? In other words, if you have DOS running okay on this computer, then Win 3.1 will run okay because it's really just a DOS program. But, just like any other DOS program, the environment must be set up right for it to run.

I would disable any drivers in config.sys
Keep in mind that on some machines an AMD K6 300+ was too fast. LOL So a 3GHZ CPU may be hopeless.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

I think that only applied to Win95 (original version). I've run Win 3.1 on a 1GHz AMD without problems, so I don't think speed is an issue (though original MS-DOS 6.22 wouldn't recognize more than 64MB of RAM)...
