Comment:
I recently removed my floppy to use in another computer (wrong pin config for my 486...). I returned it to the original, and tried to boot computer. It shows AMER Mega logo and MB memory count ok, "WAIT" then FDC Failure and HDC failure. CD ROM and Floppy Light stay on constantly. Found I installed the "B" connector... backwords, reinstalled correctly to A. Now floppy has no light and get the same error. F1 to setup, then displays bios settings and asks for disk for A; drive - not working..I am unable to access bios. Disconnected floppy, still no boot. Verified HD is working ok by pluging into my 486, floppy unknown. I handled the computer insides very little - just disconnected and pulled floppy, and put back in...then whamo. Any ideas????

Could be a toasted controller (hopefully a card and not on-board). It would help though if you could find some way into the BIOS and make sure what the drive settings are showing (maybe it just lost the configuration while looking for the floppy on the wrong end of the cable)...
