I recently wiped the C drive on an old 486. I tried (perhaps stupidly) to install 3.1 using a win98 boot disk. This does not work. Could somebody please tell me how to make, or send me, a boot disk compatible with the old DOS that it runs on (3.0 or thereabouts I think)? Cheers

When I loaded Windows 3.1 I first had to load DOS. The first floppy of the DOS set was bootable and of course included FDISK FORMAT and SYS. I have not heard of a Windows 3.1 that could be loaded any other way.

Hello Dan,
Seems that I responded using normal email and I should have used this form.
Can you email me the Zip file for a 3.1 or 3.11 boot disk?
I have the windows floppies but they don't boot.
I found it strange that there are two of us chasing the same pice of software from so long ago.
Many Thanks in anticipation
Regards
Jim Percy
