I have been to so many sites that have the downloads @ different number of floppy disks and different file dates on the disks. I really don't know what is the real one for each one. Thanks for any help.

My copies (actually originals) of 3.1 come on a total of 7 disks - some say 6. Get my point?

3.1.040, The original windows 3.1 had 7 disks. the seventh was a supplemental disk with printer drivers on it. Most sites do not post disk 7

Nope - The Original 3.1 had 6 disks. The 7 disk version is a later update. Then there is the International Printer Disk Suppliment of 2 extra disks. Or even the WfWG 3.11 Trans-Europe version on 9 disks.

This can go on and on and on!

Answer is - If it works its OK

This is why people who ask for (say) replacment Disk 3 have problems. Compressed files are on differant disks in differant disk sets.
