I am purchasing Windows Server 2008. I was told that I need a clien acces license for each pc that will be connected to the server. Why do I need these when I already have Windows operating systems on each computer?
That has been Microsoft's policy for a long time. I suppose the reasoning is that if you have more clients using a server you are receiving more value from it, and Microsoft wants a share. In any event it really doesn't matter. When you use a Windows server you must abide the rules you agreed to when you installed it.
