|So I have be wondering about this for a while now and as I don't actually have licenses I can't figure this out for myself.|
In Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services there was a loophole that allowed you to configure as many users as you wanted without the actual amount of licesnses you purchased being validated. In other words, you could purchase 10 licenses and setup 20 users to use the terminal server with no problems.
I am wondering if this has changed in with Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services. Does the new RDS now strictly enforce licensing where if you have 10 user licenses you can only have up to 10 users able to use RDS?
I think I read somewhere that the first time a user connects to a RDS Host the user is given a temporary license, then the second time they connect, the licensing server download the users license onto the users computer and tracks the license in RDS Licensing--all transparently of course.
Thanks for you help!!
