Hello all,

I'm planing on moving my DCs from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 to take advantage of the active directory 2008. The DCs are located in three diffirent offices. I have been reading up on it and getting diffirent answers. I plan on doing an in place upgrade on all the DCs. Is it as simple as installing windows 2008 on all the DCS, run the adprep /forest and adprep /domain on the PDC then raise th domain level and the forest level. My global catalog isn't on the PDC it's on my second DC. I read that the first DC 2008 has tobe a global catalog server.

Any help would be great.

both dcs at the main site should be global catalog holders and at least one GC per remote site.

I would expect your 2003 hardware to not be 64bit and not to have enough ram for '08. What are your system specs?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
