There was no "Exchange" category so my question's goin in the server os category...

we have a client who has an in-house exchange server, but they need more security. Specifically, is there a clever (cheap...easy...) way to ALLOW INTERNAL emails, but require a PASSWORD for external-bound emails?

I looked through the Transport Rules and i see plenty of ways to redirect emails, but nothing about requiring a password to send. I'm thinking a 3rd party smart host might end up being part of the solution, but i'm not sure.

any thoughts?

Can you restrict permissions on the server to only allow set users to send emails out?

has your client been hacked before? is this why you are looking for a more secure solution?
