I was running bunch of VMs on the server and I installed Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 which is compatible with 2008 server however when I rebooted the box I got the "Missing Operating System" message.
I don't know what happened but it's just so strange. I'm not sure what to try to recover from this problem.
Any one has seen this problem?

Fixed the problem by myself by trying the below steps:
- Booted from the 2008 Server DVD
- Went into command prompt
- Ran bootrec.exe /fixmbr
- Deleted the existing C:\boot\BCD file.
- Then, ran bootrec.exe /rebuildBCD
- It searched for the valid windows 2008 server installation under C:\windows and I said "yes" to make the entry for the same in the Boot partition.
- Rebooted the system.
This restored the system without any loss of data/configuration.
Hope if someone runs into similar problem, he/she will be able to try this out..
I believe that it should work for VISTA boot problems too as the bootload is same for VISTA & 2008.
