1) Setup active directory domain controller on server PC
2) Setup DNS on server PC
3) setup DHCP on server PC
4) Setup new user accounts on xp machines, limited or administrator??
5) Set domain names and DNS IP on XP Pcs
6) Run mstsc(remote desktop) from admin XP PC and login to server via servername or IP / password

The user names have to be created on the server in active directory.

No offense, but if you are asking these questions, you might consider getting a consultant in to help you.

It is much more complex then you appear to think that it is.

If you get some help getting things configured, you'll have a much easier time of things in the long run.

The post above is correct. This is quite a basic question, and to fall at this hurdle could mean big trouble further down the line. I hope for the sake of the company that this is a test system they are letting you loose on!!!!!!!!

Administrative tools
Active Directory users and computers
In the users container right click --> New --> USER
