Are you going to be using this for local or hosting domains? Need a bit more info. I know that you can purchase a managed dedicated server from Server Intellect with windows 2008 installed with DNS already configured. Comes with a control panel. You just add your domains and they are live. Less hassle in trying to set up the DNS. Good luck.

Have you installed DNS role yet?
You will need to make sure your DHCP server is directing the clients DNS requests to this server. You will also need to set option x15 on the DHCP server so that the DNS records will be put in the domain.local container.
This is on the assumption that you are already running a MS DHCP server, and that you are on a domain enviroment.
